About

I’m Michelle. I’ve been a T1D for 20 years. I was diagnosed right around my 6th birthday. Right before I started the first grade. I have all the tools I need (Minimed insulin pump and a Dexcom Continuous Glucose Monitor) to carefully manage my diabetes and I used to be able to handle it. My A1C used to never be higher than 7.5. But shortly after I started college I started to ignore my diabetes. I put it all on the backburner and began to live my life with as little regard to T1D as possible. Now I’m ready to listen to my doctors, my husband and my parents. I’m ready to begin my journey from my last A1C which was 11.3 to my goal of 7, no matter now difficult and scary and eye opening it is.
